Meet Tukeni and Sope!


Tukeni Obasi
Tukeni is a fourth-year student of Political Science, African Studies and French Translation at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where she serves as the Vice President External of the African Studies Students Association. Her engagement in various development initiatives has ranged from an internship at the African Assembly for the Defense of Human Rights in Senegal to teaching and hosting youth seminars in The Gambia to managing a agricultural enterprise fellowship program in Nigeria. Her passion for youth empowerment led her to co-found the Youth Consortium for Progress whose objectives include promoting youth-led development, capacity-building and information sharing. Within YCP, she coordinates the activities and affairs of the Gambia group as well as the larger Pan-African online network.

Sope Adegoke
Sope is a fellow co-founder of YCP and was responsible for reviewing the content of the podcast. Sope is a Nigerian Economics student at Claremont McKenna College, where she is actively involved in a number of programs such as the Future Business Leaders of America and the Ujima Peer Mentor program. Her interests include economic policy, development economics (with an emphasis on the African continent), and intellectual property law. Sope is also passionate about international business development and youth activism and entrepreneurship and is a member of the World Youth Alliance. Within YCP, she coordinates communication among the various teams while managing the financial and entrepreneurial aspects of the organization.
